PRATT - The Barton Community College Volleyball team solidified its hold on third place in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference and NJCAA Region VI by defeating Pratt in straight sets on Tuesday night.

This Halloween celebration will take place on Wednesday, October 31 between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. in the 1100 block of North Vine Street in Hoisington. The area will be blocked off, and car trunks will be decorated with Halloween themes and filled with treats for children in the community.

At Monday night's Great Bend City Council meeting, City Administrator Howard Partington gave an update on the activities of various city departments in the past couple weeks. Below is a summary of some of the highlights.
The Great Bend High School Debate Team competed in their third tournament weekend of competition. They had five debate teams compete at the Buhler debate tournament on Saturday Oct. 13th. Two teams competed in the open division and three in the novice division. One open team placed and one novice team placed. In the open division Michael Gieck and Kameko Schultz placed second with a five and zero win loss record and twenty speaker points. "My partner and I did very well as a team together" Schultz stated.
