Literacy kits prep kids for kindergarten

A monetary donation from Great Bend High School students, added to time donated by the Barton County Young Professionals and other volunteers, means area children may be better prepared when they start school. More than 400 literacy kits from the United Way of Central Kansas have been assembled to hand out at Kindergarten Roundups this spring.

The Great Bend Panther Bowling teams traveled to Wichita on Saturday, Jan. 9, to compete in the 27 Team Bishop Carroll Bakers Tournament. The Lady Panthers finished in 9th place. Team members included, senior Hanna Pfeifer; juniors, Allie Brodrick, Kylynn Keeler, McKenzy Black, and Elsi Miller; and sophomore Jordan Vsetecka.
