Great Bend Police received several reports Sunday of thefts from homes and vehicles.

Woman treated for minor injuries after collision

The Great Bend Police Department reports Charles Rupp was driving north on Patton Road at 4:43 p.m. Saturday and his vehicle struck a vehicle driven by Jasmine Velasco, who was westbound on 10th St. turning south onto Patton. Velasco was transported to Great Bend Regional Hospital, where she was treated for injuries and released.

Clara Barton Colloquium celebrates 20 years of health-care continuing education

"Nurses: Trusted to Care" is the theme for the 20th annual Clara Barton Colloquium offered by Barton Community College. The event is set from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, May 6, at the Highland Hotel and Convention Center, 3017 W. 10th Street.

SDA students working for Broken Arrow camp

The youth of the Great Bend Seventh-day Adventist School and Church are working to earn money to go to Broken Arrow Summer Camp. Students are available for jobs such as lawn, cleaning, cleaning flower beds and minor painting for $5 per hour.

Hallenbeck to give program on Africa Wednesday

The Great Bend Recreation Commission will host a free Stop 'N Learn Session titled "Africa," from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Great Bend Activity Center, 2715 18th St. Kay Hallenbeck will talk about her trip to Africa - the food, interesting facts and culture.

Kiwanis’ Easter egg hunt scheduled for Saturday

The annual Easter egg hunt sponsored by the Great Bend Noon Kiwanis club is set for 9:30 a.m. sharp, Saturday at the Kiwanis Walking Track on the North side of Veterans Memorial Park, just off McKinley Street. The event is open to all area children, pre-school through 6th grade. Sponsors said there will be lots of Easter eggs and prizes will be given for special eggs.

Judge Mike Keeley to talk to Citizens Watchdog group about sentencing guidelines

The Citizens Watchdog Association will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at Rosewood Gallery, 16th and Main. Meetings are open to anyone who is concerned about the continuing burglaries in Great Bend.

BCC president to recommend Rolfs for athletic director

Barton Community College President Dr. Carl Heilman will recommend the hiring of Trevor Rolfs as the next athletic director, when the BCC Board of Trustees meets at 4 p.m. Thursday in the Seminar Room, located in F-30 of the Fine Arts Building. Heilman will review screening process as well.
