Barton Community College art instructor Steve Dudek received the Kansas Watercolor Society Members Patron Purchase Award in the Kansas Watercolor Society National Exhibition 2010 for his watercolor painting titled "Christina's Koi."
Barton Community College vocal and instrumental music groups will perform their holiday concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 22, in the college's Fine Arts Auditorium for the taping of "Holiday on the Hill" by Smoky Hills Public Television.

Two Barton Community College baseball players know their future for the next couple of years, signing letters of intent to play at four-year schools. Sophomores Mitch Slauter and Jordan Slade inked the letter on the first day of the early signing period on Nov. 10.
UMB Relay for Life Team of Hudson has organized a Pamper Your Passion party that will take place this Saturday at the Stafford County Annex, located just east of the Stafford County Courthouse in St. John. Doors will open at 10 a.m. and the event will continue until 2 p.m. Admission is free. According to a spokesman for the event, the building will be filled with local vendors with ideas and gifts for the holidays. There will also be concessions and a demonstration of the Zumba form of exercising by dancing to Latino music.
The rural Russell man involved in a rollover accident on Tuesday was listed in critical condition, a spokesman for Via Christi Medical Center's St. Francis Hospital said Wednesday.
An ambulance was summoned after two cars collided Wednesday morning on U.S. 281 at NE 20 Road, but both drivers refused medical treatment at the scene, the Barton County Sheriff's Office reports.

CHASE – Margery A. Rondeau, 83, died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014, at the Good Samaritan Center in Lyons. Born Nov. 30, 1930, in Minneapolis, Minn., she was the daughter of Max and Agnes Engelbert. She married Richard F. Rondeau Aug. 21, 1948, at Minneapolis. He survives. She was a resident of Chase since 1999, having lived in Belpre and San Diego.
Ruth Lorene Ward, 91, died Aug. 30 at Golden Plains Care Center, Hutchinson. She was born July 15, 1923 at Brownell, the daughter of Jesse Dailey and Sarah Eliza (Rankin) Weathers. Ruth married Floyd Cecil Ward March 13, 1940 at Hutchinson. He died Jan. 2, 1996. She was homemaker and worked in the kitchen at USD 428 and St. Rose Hospital
