​Hoisington woman hurt when car hits deer

A Hoisington woman was taken to Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington after the car she was driving hit a deer at 8:30 p.m. Thursday on U.S. 281, eight miles north of Great Bend. Kansas Highway Patrol reports Kristin Marie Roat, 25, was driving a 2011 Kia and was wearing a seat belt. The Barton County Sheriff's Office also responded to the scene and noted the car sustained heavy front-end damage and air bags deployed.

Vehicle leaves after hitting bicyclist

Gabrial Mittel was bicycling when he was hit by a vehicle that left the scene, he told police Thursday afternoon. According to Great Bend Police Department call log, he was westbound on an unknown street sometime Wednesday when the accident occurred. He went to the hospital where he was treated for minor head injuries and released.
