Richard and Martha Strecker of Dodge City will celebrate their 50th anniversary with a reception at 2 p.m. on May 27 at the Knights of Columbus in Dodge City. Carl and Melinda Petz of Olathe announce the engagement of their daughter Allyson Petz to Andrew Owen, son of Carrol Owen and Debbie Owen, both of Hoisington. Matt and Jana Keeley announce the birth of their daughter, Reese AnnMarie Keeley, on March 22 in Olathe. She weighed 6 lbs. 11 oz. and was 19 3/4 in. long. She has a two-year-old big brother, Cade Matthew Keeley.
Vera Bellendir will celebrate her 80th birthday with a come-and -go reception from 2 to 5 p.m. on April 29 at the Best Western, 2910 10th in Great Bend.
Dean and Betty Misegadis will celebrate their 60th anniversary with a card shower. Hosts for the event will be their children and spouses Lois Misegadis and Mike James, Darlene Misegadis, and Steve and Barb Misegadis; and their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

HOISINGTON -It turns out the 4th time's the charm, not the 3rd time. The 11-year-old Quivira All-Star baseball team, comprised of Ellsworth, Claflin and Hoisington players, avenged three previous losses to CVL (the Cottonwood Valley League All-Stars) to claim the Cal Ripken State Baseball Championship in Garden City this past weekend for the 11-year-old Cal Ripken Division. The Quivira team will now advance to an 8-team, 5-state Regional tournament in Minot, North Dakota beginning July 31st.
