Marquita Boehnke, longtime Ellinwood resident, retired March 31 after 39 years of service with the Central Kansas Library System. Boehnke served as the Youth Services consultant and worked with libraries in 17 counties.

OAKFIELD, Tenn. - Edward "Butch" Lee Sanders, 68, died Feb. 12. He was born in Great Bend in 1945. He graduated from Great Bend High School in 1965. In 1967, he married Maggie Van Horne in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He was a computer programmer at Northwestern Bell from 1970-1994.
O'Linda E. Orr, 99, died April 5, at the Pawnee Valley Community Hospital in Larned. Services are pending with Bryant Funeral Home.
Plans to offer soldiers at Fort Riley a paramedic certificate through Barton Community College will be discussed at the next BCC Board of Trustees study session, set for 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, in the Seminar Room, F-30 of the Fine Arts Building. Karyl White, director of Emergency Medical Services Education, will explain how offering this program at Grandview Plaza (rather than the degree program for paramedics) will enable solders to sit for national EMT boards in a timely manner, supporting the US Army's mandate for national certification.

A Great Bend Police Department vehicle driven by officer Jacob A. Harlow, 28, struck the back of a van driven Alice L. Council, 52, Great Bend, at 8:42 p.m. Saturday at 3920 10th St. Council was transported to Great Bend Regional by Great Bend EMS.
Two people were injured in a four-wheeler accident at 12:52 a.m. Sunday at SW 70 Ave. and NW 210 Road.
A Garden City man driving a motorcycle was injured Saturday afternoon on K-96 in Ness County, 4 miles west of Alexander.
