Some local gas prices among state’s highest

Average retail gasoline prices in Kansas have fallen 8.9 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.23 per gallon Sunday, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 1,329 gas outlets in Kansas. This compares with the national average that has fallen 4.2 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.38.

Carol Joan Lundquist 1927 - 2013

Carol Joan Lundquist passed away Oct. 5, at Cherry Village Nursing Home in Great Bend, in much of the same manner in which she was born. She died with strength, grace, and dignity. Carol was born March 27, 1927 at her aunt's home in Milwaukee, Wisc., to Carl John and Rose Caroline (Blum) Pohlman, with a remote chance of survival. Born two months prematurely, Carol was placed in an improvised shoe box incubator by her aunt and father, after the doctor felt there was no hope of survival.
