NEVEDA, Mo. - Dorothy Hamilton, 75, Nevada, Mo., passed away on Jan. 27 at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin, Mo., after a short battle with cancer. She was born Jan. 14, 1936, in Claflin, to Anthony and Mary Kimpler Straub. She married Harry Hamilton on Sept. 20, 1954, in Decatur, Ind.

Boy dies in farm accident

A 7-year-old boy died after being run over by a tractor, Saturday afternoon northwest of Olmitz. Emergency vehicles were dispatched around 3:45 p.m. The Barton County Sheriff's Office reports the boy, whose name was not being released, died as a result of injuries from the farm accident. Emergency responders started cardiopulmonary resuscitation but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Food Bank donation

On a recent afternoon visit to the Barton County Food Bank the volunteers were scurrying about trying to assist local residents who were overflowing the waiting room, many with children in tow, hoping for emergency food assistance.
