Speaker will talk about snakes of Kansas

The Great Bend Recreation Commission will host a free Stop 'N Learn Session titled, "The Snakes of Kansas," from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, at the Great Bend Activity Center, 2715 18th St. This program will also be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 8, at the Great Bend Senior Center, 2005 Kansas Ave. Jean Aycock from the Kansas Wetlands Education Center, will share fascinating facts about one of the most misunderstood groups of animals, and show participants a few snakes that call Cheyenne Bottoms home.

Rec takes casino trip

HOISINGTON - The Hoisington Recreation Commissions bus trip to Dodge City Boot Hill Casino / Roto Mix Shootout still has some openings. The bus leaves at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 15. Current and future Barton County children living with cancer will again be the beneficiaries of the 3rd Annual Kans for Kids Fighting Cancer Radiothon from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, March 8th. The Eagle Radio Radiothon will be broadcast live on all three Great Bend Eagle stations including 100.7 Eagle Country KHOK, 1590 AM KVGB, B 104.3, KVGB FM, and Hull Radio Station 106.9 FM KBGL. Kans for Kids provides both emotional and financial support for families dealing with childhood cancer in Barton County.

Chiefs go 1-1 against Hutch

The Great Bend Chiefs split a Friday night doubleheader with Hutchinson at the Great Bend Sports Complex. Great Bend fell in the opening game of the series by a score of 9-8.
