Lindsay has been employed by Farmers Bank & Trust for 14 years in the capacities of Teller, New Accounts Representative, Supervisor, Branch Manager, Electronic Banking Officer and Assistant Operations/Cashier. The past week was an interesting one for me and for many of us in the technical division at Barton. We were involved in the annual Breaking Traditions two-day event that exposed high school age young women and men to careers that they may not have considered as part of their future. Careers ranged from working on gas pipelines to criminal justice, automotive technician and agriculture. Even in today's world we all tend to assign certain careers by gender and this was a chance for these highschoolers to "think outside the box."

The Great Bend Recreation Commission Board of Directors will discuss capital outlay goals when it meets at 4 p.m. Monday at the Recreation Center, 1214 Stone St. The board will also talk about the time line for working on next year's budget, and will schedule a budget work session.

The annual Bike Safety Rodeo for children 5-14 years old will be held Thursday, June 23, at the Brit Spaugh Park south baseball field near 22nd and Morton streets.
