Robert "Bob" Shanks 1942 - 2012

Robert "Bob" Shanks, 69, died Jan. 3, 2012, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center in Hutchinson. He was born Aug. 7, 1942, at Kansas City, Mo., the son of Robert and Constance Isabelle (Gaunt) Caraway. He married Lorraine Andrasek July 21, 1962, at Great Bend. A lifetime Great Bend resident, he was a truck driver, carpenter and meat cutter.

ROZEL - Grace Olive Grandy, 90, passed away Jan. 2, 2012, at the Country Place Living Center, Larned. She was born Sept. 20, 1921, in Rozel, the daughter of Louie and Ora Renfro Pfenninger. A lifetime area resident; she was a homemaker. Her family and church were first and foremost in her life.

When members of the Central Kansas Partnership held a meeting with a potluck meal, the samples of hearty soups and sweet snacks were abundant. Garden Club learns history and future of Great Bend’s Argonne Forest
