Lester "Buck" Lindsay celebrated his 80th birthday at his home in Olmitz with his family. He was born Sept. 28, 1930 at home on a farm at rural Olmitz to Charles and Caroline Lindsay. The 78th Kansas Junior Livestock Show (KJLS) offered numerous learning opportunities and rewards for exhibitors. During the state's largest youth livestock show, held September 24-27 in Wichita, 626 4-H and FF A members from 84 counties competed for auction premiums and scholarships by exhibiting 1,216 head of livestock. Major sponsors of the show are the Kansas Livestock Association, Kansas State University and the AgriBusiness Council of Wichita.

LACROSSE - The Meade at LaCrosse Class 2A football playoff game has been postponed from Friday night until 3 p.m. Saturday because of a wintry forecast. LaCrosse (11-0) and Meade (10-1) have met in the playoffs the past three years. Defending state champion Meade beat LaCrosse 34-12 last year. By mid-morning Friday, Meade has received 3 inches of snow. Hugoton reported 5 inches of snow and Seward County reported 4 inches of snow.
