QUINLAN, Texas - Franklin B. Shaver, 80, passed away Nov. 29. Born Feb. 5, 1934, in Belpre, he was the son of David and Clara (Buhrer) Shaver. Franklin was a resident of Quinlan, Texas, for 17 years and The Broadmoor in Rockwall, Texas, for the past 7 months. He retired from Walmart after 25 years of dedicated service in the Sporting Goods Department.

The Busy Buzzers 4-H club decided November would be a great time to give back to the community with a service project. At their monthly November meeting, they decided to sew shirt protectors for the local care facility Almost Home. Several of club members arrived an hour early to the meeting to begin sewing. There were experienced sewers and kids who had never sewn before helping with the project. By the end of the night, around 12-14 shirt protectors had been sewn. Today more than 380 Farm Bureau members of Kansas wrapped up business for their farm organization after debating and adopting policy statements for 2015. These policies will now become the organization's roadmap for the 2015 legislative session.
