Charles L. Pfenninger

LARNED - Charles L. Pfenninger, 93, died Dec. 31, 2010 at Larned Healthcare Center. He was born Jan. 29, 1917, near Rozel, the son of Louis J. and Ora Grace Renfro Pfenninger. On March 1, 1941, he married Della G. Eilts at Yuma, Ariz. She died Jan. 26, 2003. A lifetime resident of Pawnee County, he retired from Roth Equipment Company as vice president and was a farm machinery salesman for 40 years.

Edwin O. Hiss

Edwin O. Hiss, 79, of Great Bend, died Dec. 29 at Cherry Village Nursing Home in Great Bend. He was born Nov. 9, 1931, at Great Bend, the son of Fred Henry and Mary Bertha (Janne) Hiss. He married Violet Krentzel on April 29, 1967, at Great Bend. A lifetime Barton County resident, he was a farmer and stockman.

Dorothy D. Fox 1924 - 2013

LARNED - Dorothy D. Fox, 88, died May 16 at the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita. Born Oct. 12, 1924, in Muskegon, Mich., she was the daughter of Ernest W. Goldsmith. On Dec. 15, 1946, she married Walter Mac Fox in Wichita. A longtime area resident of Larned, she was a farmer's wife, a Rosie Riveter for Boeing during World War II and worked in the Dietary Department at Larned State Hospital.
