Tim Allen Pfeifer, 28, died Sept. 30 at his home in Great Bend. He was born Jan. 5, 1983 at Hays, the son of Francis J. and Sue (Stejskal) Pfeifer. He was manager of Medical Records at Great Bend Regional Hospital. He was a Great Bend, Kansas resident since 2004 coming from Liebenthal and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Liebenthal.
Gary L. Christiansen, 63, died Sept. 3 at the Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center in Wichita. He was born on Oct. 1, 1947 in Vallejo, Calif.
Sheryl L. Mosiman File, 67, died Sept. 25 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born July 12, 1944 in Beatrice, Neb., she was the daughter of Royal A. and Lois E. (Knowles) Mosiman. She was a Great Bend resident for three years, coming from Beatrice, Neb. to be near family.

The Great Bend High School Debate Team competed in their first Debate Tournament at Hutchinson High School, for a two day tournament and brought home five awards. They took three novice teams consisting of Chris Snow, Paige VanSteenburgh, Spencer Johnson, Kary Garcia, Nathanial Cheney, and Brianna Earegood. All did extremely well and most ended up with a winning record. Snow and VanSteenburgh ended the weekend with a 3-2 win-loss record. Stan Jantz of Hoisington was honored Saturday by being presented with the to his chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution. Stan is the Americanism Chairman for the Sons of the Plains Chapter which meets in Hutchinson. Stan is a member of the Color guard and has participated in events at every opportunity and initiated opportunities when none were scheduled. Stan has been instrumental in getting joint involvement with the DAR Chapter in Ellsworth.
