HOISINGTON - The Hoisington School Board met at its regular meeting on Monday, and adopted a resolution regarding a 'suitable' education and is seeking input from the community on what a suitable education is. The Kansas Constitution requires that students be provided a 'suitable' education.

Great Bend Senior Center's monthly potluck dinner will be held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Senior Center, 2005 Kansas Ave. This month's dinner will feature a baked potato bar. Sonja Karen Swanson-O’Connor 1942 - 2013
PAONIA, Colo. - Sonja Karen Swanson-O'Connor, 71, passed away May 31, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Grand Junction, Colo. Born Feb. 3, 1942 in Paonia, Colo., she was the daughter of Henry R. and Martha Ellen (Hallar). She married Maurice Guy O'Connor. They moved to Montana where they made their home in the Lolo Creek Valley for the next 25 years where she raised her family, later divorcing in 1985.

John Baker, 85, died June 2 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born Sept. 11, 1927 at Wichita, he was the son of Oscar and Lottie (Frasier) Baker.
Youth Bike Safety Rodeo Friday
The Barton County Health Department, Barton County Sheriff's Office, Great Bend Police Department and the Barton County Landfill have teamed up to provide their annual Bike Safety Rodeo for children ages 5 to 14 on Friday at the Britt Spaugh Park northeast baseball field near 22nd and Morton streets.
