BCC's Dudek takes first at Garden Art exhibit
Steve Dudek was awarded the first-place Betty Sieler Award for his watercolor painting in the Wichita Garden Art Exhibit, which took place Feb. 23 through March 6. Dudek's painting was of roses from a photograph taken in the Great Bend Garden Club Memorial Rose Garden in the Great Bend Cemetery. He had two pieces accepted in the show.

The Great Bend Middle School Band Department will be having their spring band concerts on Thursday at the Great Bend Middle School gym. Local educator awarded statewide grant
Mr. Stan Ewy, a teacher at Otis-Bison Elementary School in USD 403, was recently awarded a classroom grant by the Kansas Association of American Educators (KANAAE), a non-union professional educators association serving Kansas teachers. 240 volunteers served for Love Sterling 2013
On Saturday, April 27, approximately 240 Sterling College students, faculty, staff and community members of all ages joined together to serve the town of Sterling, by participating in the fourth annual Love Sterling event, a town-wide day of service. Overall, Love Sterling was a community effort with an estimated 1,500 man hours being given over the course of the day.
