Great Bend City Slicers 4-H Club met on Feb. 17 at the Pizza Hut. There were eight members, eight parents are four guests present. Members were reminded of 4-H Days on March 2. The next meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. on March 14 at the old 4-H building.

Congressman Tim Huelskamp announced today that entries are now being accepted for the 2013 Congressional Arts Competition. All high school students in the First Congressional District are encouraged to participate in this competition. The winning artwork will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year.

In this position, Linn will be working with volunteers from school age children to college students to young adults, in fact, anyone under the age of 55. Linn brings great enthusiasm as well as wonderful experience working with the Relay for Life, Barton Community Concerts and other community volunteer efforts. All of us at RSVP are looking forward to this expansion into a full volunteer center and to working with Linn.

WOODWARD, Okla. - Carole Willcut, 78-year-old Woodward, Okla., resident, died Saturday, April 11, 2015, in Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 16, at the Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Gregory Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery. SALINA- A perfect conference season is in the books. The Barton Community College women's golf team made it 6-for-6 in winning Jayhawk Conference tournaments this season. The final leg was completed with another easy win at the Salina Municipal Golf Course Monday and Tuesday.

Starting around Monday, April 20, and continuing for three weeks, the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) will have a field survey team surveying a section of US-56 Highway in Rice County. The survey area will include the section of US-56 highway 1,200 feet east and 1,200 feet west of the US-56 bridge over the overflow channel for the Little Arkansas River located 1.1 miles east of the US-56 highway intersection with K-46 highway. The purpose of the survey is to gather information necessary to create detailed designs for future highway improvements.

ODIN – Mary M. Wondra, 92, died April 12, at Great Bend Regional Medical Center. Born Oct. 12, 1922, in Odin, she was the daughter of Joseph V. and Frances M. (Tinkel) Jenisch. She graduated from Odin High School. On April 29, 1946, she married William Wondra in Odin. He died Nov. 13, 1996. A lifetime resident of the Odin and Claflin area, she was a homemaker.
LARNED - Cynthia Kay Mull, 78, died April 11 at Diversicare of Larned.
CLAFLIN - Maxine L. Riemann, 93, died April 12 at Woodhaven Care Center, Ellinwood. Born March 25, 1922 at Ellinwood, she was the daughter of Carl H. and Alice Bell (Hoadley) Schmidt.
