Boy injured in go-cart accident

A 7-year-old boy from Kinsley was injured Sunday afternoon while driving a go-cart at Val Energy Inc., 250 SE 10 Ave., Great Bend. HOISINGTON - Marion Jean Hicks, 49, died March 18 at Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington. She was born Jan. 31, 1962, in Newport, R.I., the daughter of Eugene and Marion (Hendry) Benavidez. She married Gordon Hicks on April 15, 2004, at Hoisington. She was a homemaker and had been a Hoisington resident since 2001, coming from Alva, Okla.

John Carmon Ellison 1955-2013

John Carmon Ellison of Allen, Texas, 57, passed away on May 30, 2013. He was born on Sept. 3, 1955, in Fort Stewart, Ga., the son of John and Dee Ellison. On Nov. 28, 1995, John married Phyllis Taylor in Great Bend. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. John was also very proud of his police work; he started the SWAT program in Great Bend. John loved barbecue and cooking out, but most of all, he loved his family. He had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh.
