Laurine Brown, 88, died Aug. 20 at the Rush County Nursing Home in LaCrosse. Born Sept. 2, 1923 in Ransom, she was the daughter of Adolph and Anna (Roediger) Schweitzer. On Feb. 14, 1942 she married Walter Leo Brown in McCracken. He died on Nov. 28, 1991. A resident of Great Bend since 1981, coming from Ransom, Brownell and McCracken, she was a homemaker.

ELLINWOOD - Theresa Schartz, 73, died Aug. 19 at her home in Ellinwood. Born May 15, 1939 at Great Bend, she was the daughter of Wendelin and Dorothy (Herl) Herrman. She grew up in Great Bend, but would later move to Ellinwood after she married LeRoy G. Schartz on Dec. 31, 1955. He died on May 26, 2010. She was a homemaker.
Marjorie Doreen Harrington, 91, died Aug. 20 at River Bend Assisted Living in Great Bend. Born Jan. 10, 1921 in London, England, she was the daughter of Herbert and Victoria (Forman) Hudspith.

SALINA - Vernon Alvin Jantz, 91, died Nov. 14 at Windsor Estates, Salina. He was born Nov. 13, 1923, at Montezuma, the son of Marcus and Adina (Unruh) Jantz. He married Basil (Spires) Griffin on Nov. 28, 1987, at Hoisington. A Salina resident since 2000, coming from Hoisington, Vernon was a member of the Hoisington Bible Church and recently attended Salina Bible Church. Before retirement, he was a supervisor for Northern Natural Gas, Bushton.
HOISINGTON - Melba E. Maggard, 85 died Nov. 15 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born Oct. 21, 1929, at Hoisington, the daughter of Henry Cordory and Maudie Elizabeth (Anglin) Spires.
CULLISON - A Hugoton man was taken to the Kiowa County Hospital with possible injuries on Friday after a semitrailer and a vehicle collided at 6:05 p.m.

LA CROSSE - Marie D. Reifschneider, 86, La Crosse, died, Nov. 14 at Locust Grove Village in La Crosse. She was born April 5, 1928, at rural Timken, the daughter of Ralph G. and Blanche J. (Smrcka) Holopirek. On Nov. 20, 1947, she married LeRoy Reifschneider at the United Methodist Church, La Crosse. A lifelong resident of Rush County, she was a homemaker.
Calista Marie Stuart, 88, died Nov. 13 at Great Bend Regional Hospital. She was born June 15, 1926, at Barton County, the daughter of Edward and Catherine (Theisen) Seyfert. She married Herbert Stuart in 1943, and later divorced. A lifetime Barton County resident, Calista was a bookkeeper, working for Cheyenne Drug, Van-Jo Dairy, Kottwitz Motor Company, Bob Reiter Chevrolet, Ron Miller Accounting, and most recently M & F Plumbing Heating and Air.
Sister Patricia Martinez, 89, died Nov. 14 at Salina Regional Health Center in Salina. Born May 13, 1925, in Little River, as Pasquala Martinez, Sister Patricia was the daughter of Gregorio and Placida Gomez Martinez. She entered the Dominican Sisters Community in Great Bend Oct. 10, 1943, and pronounced her first vows Aug. 13, 1946. She celebrated 65 years of religious profession in 2011.

SeaPort Airlines announced today that it will take delivery of two of three new Cessna Caravans being acquired for the company's fleet by the end of the year. SeaPort's Chief Executive Officer Rob McKinney, will accept the new aircraft at the Cessna Aircraft Corporation factory in Wichita, Kansas and will pilot one of the new aircraft on a three-day tour of the carrier's Mid-South routes.
