Edna Manke 1912- 2011

LYONS - Edna Manke, 98, died Jan. 15 at the Rice County District Hospital in Lyons. Born Jan. 22, 1912, in rural Ellinwood, she was the daughter of William A. and Henrietta Lantermann Koch. A resident of Lyons since 1967, formerly of Bushton, she was a homemaker. She graduated from Ellinwood High School in 1928. On June 12, 1929, she married Leo F. Manke in Ellinwood. He died September 27, 1994.

John Carmon Ellison 1955-2013

John Carmon Ellison of Allen, Texas, 57, passed away on May 30, 2013. He was born on Sept. 3, 1955, in Fort Stewart, Ga., the son of John and Dee Ellison. On Nov. 28, 1995, John married Phyllis Taylor in Great Bend. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. John was also very proud of his police work; he started the SWAT program in Great Bend. John loved barbecue and cooking out, but most of all, he loved his family. He had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh.
