ELLINWOOD - DeLoise Batchman Elliot, 83, died Jan. 30 at Woodhaven Care Center in Ellinwood. Born Jan. 10, 1930, in Great Bend, she was the daughter of Fred Batchman and Katie Irene Herter. On Sept. 3, 1950, she married Claude William Elliot in Ellinwood. He died on March 13, 2012. A lifetime resident of Ellinwood, she was a farm wife and provided nursery care.

Nevada unemployment is so acute that more than four and a half years have passed since a single construction worker showed up at the unfinished $4.75 billion Echelon mega resort.
