The Barton Community College men's and women's track and field teams finished second and third place respectively in the 2012 NJCAA Indoor Championship this past weekend at in Charleston, Ill.

PRATT - Pauline Eva McManaman, 83, died March 3 at South Wind Hospice Home in Pratt. Born Dec. 20, 1928 in Isabel, she was the daughter of Henry and Ella (Morisse) Lawrenz. On May 26, 1954 she married Basil "Bud" L. McManaman. He died Dec. 6, 2010. She was a homemaker.
ELLINWOOD - Deborah Lee Hanna, 49, died March 5 at Woodhaven Care Center in Ellinwood. Born April 16, 1962 in Wichita, she was the daughter of Wayne E. Hanna and Marilyn E. Boerger Hanna. She was a graduate of Ransom High School. A resident of Barton County for the past 15 years, formerly of Ransom and Hugoton, she was a certified nurse's aide.
The Barton Community College Theater Department will have auditions for its upcoming production of the musical, "The Last Five Years," from 5:30-7 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, in the Fine Arts Auditorium.

HOISINGTON - A Big Dog motorcycle crashed at Susank Road and NE 230 Rd. when it struck a sandy/dirt patch on the highway Sunday afternoon. According to a report by the Barton County Sheriff's Office, driver Curtis Davis of Hoisington lost control of the motorcycle at about 4:30 p.m., slid onto its side digging into the road causing it to flip onto its other side. Davis and passenger Sandra Davis slid into the ditch. Sandra Davis landed against a county sign.

The Suicide Prevention Task Force of Central Kansas Partnership is holding a Remembrance Ceremony in conjunction with the "Golden Belt Glow for Life" Walk and competitive 5K Run at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13, at Veterans Memorial Park in Great Bend.
