GREAT BEND – Doreen Viola Boor, 66, died May 31, 2012, at her home in Great Bend. She was born Sept. 11, 1945, at Quinter, the daughter of Titus and Mary Matilda (Herzog) Kuntz. She married Lawrence "Larry" Boor May 5, 1966, at Great Bend. A bookkeeper for Johnson Electric and Alfalfa Pellets and having worked for Ellinwood Packing for 23 years, she was a Great Bend resident since 1963, coming from Grainfield.

Barton County Office Buildings will be closed Monday, Jan. 19, for Martin Luther King Day. The Records Division of the Sheriff's Office and the Health Department will also be closed. The Landfill will only be open from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. that day. Emergency services will be in normal operation.
All are invited to attend the Soup Sampler Supper, sponsored by the Daughters of Isabella, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 18, at the St. Patrick Parish Center, 4100 Broadway Ave. Several varieties of soup will be available. James J. Rossman, 86, of Albert, and Rachel D. Hill, 30, of Larned, were injured Friday when vehicles they were driving collided in Barton County. The accident occurred at 4:15 p.m.

Helen Marie Steincamp, 84, died Jan. 10, 2015, at Via Christi St. Francis Regional Medical Center, Wichita. Born Oct. 12, 1930, at Redwing, she was the daughter of Joseph R. and Anna Marie (Proksch) Dietz. She was a 1948 graduate of Hoisington High School.
