As part of its 2011-2012 U.S. tour, World Help is proud to present Children of the World International Children's Choir. The choir, comprised of orphaned and disadvantaged children from several different countries, will be perfonning at 6 p.m. on Feb. 12 at the First Assembly of God Church, 601 S. Their high-energy and inspiring program will feature several songs, in both English and native dialects, as well as stirring personal testimonies. On Jan. 27, the Great Bend knights of Columbus hosted its annual Men's Stag. The event featured a mountain oyster and homemade sausage meal, fellowship and a prize drawing. Howard Meier, Columbus Club board member said, "Thanks to the support of our Stag sponsors, we were able to give away nearly $3,000 in cash and prizes."

AUGUSTA – On Saturday, Jan. 29, the Great Bend High School Forensics Team traveled to the first tournament of the year at Augusta High School. The team took home seven awards and qualified two students to state. The results are as followed:

HOISINGTON - A stabbing victim was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Wichita Sunday and a suspect is in jail.
The Governor's Water Conference is to be held Wednesday, Nov. 12 and Thursday, Nov. 13, at the Hilton Garden Inn and Conference Center, 410 S. 3rd Street in Manhattan. At 9:15 a.m. n Wednesday, Governor Sam Brownback will address the progress made on his call to action last year at the conference for a 50-Year Vision for meeting Kansas water supply current and future needs.
My Grandma and Grandpa Becker were more people of action than words. Not that they didn't have much to say. They just chose their words well and needed only a few to convey much.
Sunflower Bank has promoted Jordan Klima to Loan Operations Assistant. In this capacity, Klima will be making consumer loans and supporting commercial loan functions in the Great Bend and Ellinwood communities. Prior to the promotion, Klima was a Customer Service Representative.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert and Sharon Smolik of Great Bend will celebrate their 50th anniversary with a card shower. A surprise celebration will be held at a later date.
