Young girls will receive royal treatment when they wear their favorite princess costumes to the Great Bend Recreation Commission's Prince Tea Parties on Friday. Open to children 3-5 years old, tea parties are at 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. at the Great Bend Activity Center, 2715 18th St.
The Great Bend Recreation Commission is forming the spring sessions of exercise classes. All classes start Monday, April 11, and continue until Memorial Day. Classes are held at the Great Bend Activity Center, 2715 18th St.

The Barton Community College Foundation anticipates another growth spurt for its Fourth Annual Sporting Clay Shoot, which has attracted more and more participants each year since the first event in 2008. The clay shoot is a fund-raiser to provide mini grants for Barton faculty to enhance student learning, said Darnell Holopirek, Barton's Executive Director of Institutional Advancement.

The Great Bend Public Library has been selected as a "Hometown Teams" partner site and will receive a grant of up to $1,500 to tell its local story of sports and community. GBPL will join 17 museums, historical societies, libraries, and community organizations across the state in researching and documenting local sports stories as part of the Kansas Humanities Council's "Hometown Teams" initiative.
