HOISINGTON - Hoisington Middle School volleyball continued its winning ways as it hosted and defeated the Ellsworth Bearcats on Thursday September 8th. The A, B, and C1 teams all won over the visiting and scrappy Bearcats. C2 lost their only match of the day.

The Barton County Health Department will begin doing seasonal flu shots daily starting on Monday, Sept. 19, during regular clinic hours for anyone age 6 months and older. No appointment is necessary. Persons under age 18 must be accompanied by a parent/legal guardian, no physician's order needed. Pregnant women may receive the traditional inactivated influenza vaccine. Cost for influenza vaccine shots will be $24 or Medicare/Medicaid Card or Insurance assignment. Intradermal flu shots will also be available at the health department for people 18 to 64 years of age at $24.
League of Women Voters of Great Bend will hold the monthly meeting at noon on Tuesday at The Club at Stone Ridge. Lunch will be from the menu. The program will be provided by Cynthia Batman representing the Barton County Youth Care, or the Girls Home. They cover a large district, and provide a wide range of services to the youth of the area. The luncheon is informal and time will be allowed for discussion from the floor. The public is invited to attend and participate in the discussion.

Troy and April Terry announce the birth of their daughter, Breckynn Sophia Terry, on Aug. 16, in Topeka. She weighed 8 lbs. 6 oz. and was 21 1/4 in. long.

ELLINWOOD - Lincoln Paul Tschopp, 78, died Aug. 17, at his home in Ellinwood. Born on Feb. 12, 1936, in Winfield, he was the son of Frederick and Cleoa (Pishney) Tschopp of Udall. He graduated as the first four sport letterman from Udall High School and holds degrees from both BCCC and Friends University in Wichita. After the 1955 Udall tornado destroyed his hometown, Paul enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Special Weapons Command. On April 4, 1975, he married Lillian Milberger in Wichita. He pursued an engineering career with Boeing of Wichita and then moved on ...
