LYONS - Jeffery Adam Thurman, 26, died April 1 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. Born March 20, 1986 in Lyons, he was the son of Leonard A. Thurman and Anita A. Williams. He attended Lyon's schools. A longtime resident of Lyons, he was an oilfield worker.

USD 112 regional music results

CLAFLIN -The Central Plains Oiler music department had 24 students performing in Larned on Saturday, March 31 at the Regional Music Festival. It was a successful day with nine of 14 entries advancing to the State Music Festival. The State Music Festival is scheduled for Saturday April 28 at Kansas Wesleyan University.

Hog Feed planned at Immanuel United Church of Christ

I was surprised and saddened when I read of the passing of Tribune City Editor Chuck Smith. I will miss his editorials, especially his straightforward, tell-it-like-it-is style of writing. Hazardous Operations Training

Farming is a dangerous business. In fact, farming is one of the most dangerous jobs in the US. Every year, around one hundred youth are killed in farm work related activities. A lot of these deaths could have been prevented with better safety practices. Every year, Barton County, K-State Extension and Research provides a class in Hazardous Occupations Training to teach youth ages 13-18 about the Hazards of farm work, and how to create a safer working environment. The following meals will be served April 13 through April 17. The secondary schools also have available daily: second choices, chef salad, combo lunches and choice of vegetables and dessert. The breakfast menu is offered only to students in USD 428. Menus are subject to change without notice. Milk served with all meals. All meals as offered meet USDA nutritional guidelines.
