Norbert Stegman of Wichita will celebrate his 80th birthday from 1-4 p.m. on April 3 at CPI, 1809 24th St. in Great Bend. Hosts for the event will be his wife, Erna Stegman and their five children, 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Friends are invited to the celebration.
Rick and Margo Larimore of Arkansas City announce the engagement of their daughter, Melissa Larimore, to Derek Plowman, son of Kevin and Mary Plowman of Lawrence.
Whitney Renee Stuart and Brandon David Thomas were united in marriage on Jan. 3, at the Grove Isle Hotel in Key Biscayne, Fla. in a ceremony officiated by the Rev. Michael J. Calderin. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Stuart of Overland Park and the granddaughter of the late Inez Friedley. The groom is the son of Windy Thomas of White Hall, Md., and David and Dawn Thomas of Great Bend, and the grandson of Eleanor Miller of Great Bend and the late Harold Thomas and the late Edwin and Nora Karst.
Maxine Rogers of Great Bend will celebrate her 100th birthday with an open house, from 2 to 4 p.m on March 26 at the Senior Center, 2005 Kansas Ave. in Great Bend, hosted by her family, friends and the Master Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi. Friends and relatives are invited. She requests no gifts.
Hazel Scheuerman celebrated her 85th birthday on Feb. 20 with a family dinner and reception at Cedar Park Place. The birthday celebration was hosted by her children, Paul and Trella Berscheidt and Cliff and Lynne Scheuerman of Great Bend and Terry and Naomi Scheuerman of Tecumseh, Okla.
If you were in high school between 1953-1963, you no doubt experienced The Highlander Drive-in formerly located on the Northwest corner of Central and Edgemoor. The public is invited to participate in the 8th reunion to be held on May 14 at the Marriott Hotel, 9100 Corporate Hills Drive (just north on Webb Rd and Kellogg).
Shaun and Jessica Ebert of Sycamore, Ill. announce the birth of their son, Calvin Louis Ebert, on Feb. 17 at Kishwaukee Community Hospital in DeKalb, Ill. He weighed 6 lbs. 1 oz. and was 20 1/2 in. long.
Celeste Vonfeldt of Great Bend will celebrate her 87th birthday with a reception from 1:30 to 4 p.m. on March 20 at River Bend Assisted Living, 3820 Broadway. This will be a card party with cake and ice cream.
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Link of Great Bend will celebrate their 60th anniversary on March 26 with a family dinner.

The Barton County FSA Office will be holding two informational meetings on the 2014 Farm Bill on December 8 and 9. On Dec. 8, the meeting will be at 1 p.m. and will be held at the Kansas Wetlands Center, 592 NE K-156 Highway. The second meeting will be the evening of Dec. 9 at 7 p.m. and will be at the Great Bend Recreation Center, 1214 Stone St.
