Recently students at Great Bend Middle School have heard from Detective Heather Smith of the Great Bend Police Department about the dangers of cyber communication and its life-long impacts. Now USD 428 wants parents and community members to know how they can help protect their children and teens from the pressures that are associated with cell phone and Internet use.

TRIBUNE - Elaine Mae Harper, 79, passed away on Feb. 9, 2016, at Greeley County Hospital in Tribune. Born July 7, 1936, at Offerle, she was the daughter of Raymond and Applonia (Stegman)Stegman. On Dec. 27, 1956, she married Marion (Mick) Harper in Offerle. A resident of Tribune since 1957, she was a homemaker. She was an avid fan of the Greeley County School Sports programs as well as KU Basketball and the Kansas City Chiefs. GORHAM - Rolland F. "Ladd" Goreham, 89, died Feb. 9, 2016, at the Main Street Manor at the Russell Regional Hospital. Born Aug. 9, 1926, in Yates Center, he was the son of Floyd R. and Pearl E. (Williams) Goreham. On June 15, 1948, he married Joyce E. (Culver) at Yates Center. She died April 5, 2011. He grew up in Yates Center and attended Yates Center High School. Great Bend High School Bowling results

On Tuesday afternoon the Great Bend bowling teams played host to Garden City and Holcomb. In the varsity girl's action, Great Bend defeated their opponents and earned seven of the 11 possible WAC points. The Lady Panthers were led in scoring by junior captain Allie Brodrick and her series of 645 pins. Brodrick led all bowlers on the day as she rolled games of 207, 244, and 194.
