Crime Stoppers of Barton County is seeking information about the theft of geothermal equipment from a work site in the 1400 block of SE 50 Road that occurred July 14 or 15. Great Bend Police Chief Dean Akings, speaking for Crime Stoppers, said items taken include geo phones, a data box, cables and a battery. Loss was $3,160. Margaret "Peggy" Lee Matthews, 84, died July 21 and Hoeger House, Olathe. She was born Aug. 5, 1927, at Hoisington, the daughter of Alvin Leroy and Jeanie (Francis) Holter. Peggy married Jack Matthews July 5, 1952, at Great Bend. He survives, of the home.

He was a 1973 graduate of McCracken High School, was a student at Dodge City Community College, and was a graduate of Fort Hays State University.

Born Viola Mae Wimmer on July 25, 1915, in Harlan, she was the daughter of Harvey Lester and Mary Ann Zion Wimmer. She graduated from Portis High School, attended college at York College for two years, then finished her teaching education at Fort Hays State University.
