"BARTON DYNASTY: Hunting for Bucks" is the theme for the 36th Annual Barton Foundation Big Benefit Auction, which this year's honorary co-chairs, Toby and Kristy Hogan, find rather fitting as the owners of the hunting service, "Central Kansas Whitetails." Only the "bucks" being hunted in this case are green, have presidents' faces on them and they help local students pay tuition at Barton Community College.

The Kansas Department of Commerce announced this week that 25 nonprofit organizations, including the Kans for Kids Fighting Cancer Foundation, will share $4.13 million in tax credits under the Kansas Community Service Tax Credit Program. An attempted fraud was reported to the Barton County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday. Someone called a Barton County resident saying her grandson was in trouble in New Mexico and needed help. The woman hung up before finding out what kind of "help" was wanted, and instead called her grandson, who said he was fine.
