Red Cross providing clean up kits for Ellinwood

For Ellinwood residents only, the Red Cross will be providing Emergency Clean Up Kits which include bucket, floor squeegees, mops, bleach, gloves, masks, and bug spray. They will be available Tuesday afternoon at the City Office.

Linus H. Schmeidler 1926 - 2013

HAYS - Linus H. Schmeidler, 87, died Aug. 4, at the Hays Medical Center. Born on July 8, 1926 on the family farm at Severin, he was the son of Frank and Elizabeth (Windholz) Schmeidler. In 1944 he graduated from St. Joseph Military Academy. On Sept. 14, 1957, he married LuVerna K. Stroemel at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Walker. He worked at Travenol in Hays and was also a floor covering installer for Vitzum's Incorporated for many years.

Ellinwood makes requests

ELLINWOOD - Due to the recent flooding in the community, the USD 355 school district will be making bathroom and shower facilities available at the high school during regular business hours Tuesday, Aug. 6 this week. Additional dates will be made available if necessary. This will allow people who are being affected by the flooding to have access to facilities.
