Rollover wreck in Hoisington

HOISINGTON - At 7:18 a.m. on Monday, Zachary Joseph Mayers, 22, of Hoisington, was traveling south on Center Street when he fell asleep at the wheel and left the roadway, striking a 2009 Chevrolet pickup truck owned by the state of Kansas.

Scotty Leroy Legere 1938-2013

HAYS- Scotty Leroy Legere, 74, died June 30, 2013 at Hays Medical Center. He was born Oct. 24, 1938 to Louis and Leta (Beghtol) Legere in Hill City, Kan. In lieu of funeral services, a "celebraton of life" gathering will be at a later date.

Great Bend man injured in accident

HOISINGTON - According to the Kansas Highway Patrol Crash Log, at 1:41 p.m. on Sunday, a 1996 GMC driven by Seth N. Owen, 16, of Hoisington, was westbound on U.S. Highway 281. Owen attempted to turn left onto 110 Rd. and collided with Chad Romine, 19, of Great Bend. Romine was driving a 1998 Wrangler and was east bound on U.S. Highway 281. He was not wearing his seat belt.
