CUSHING, Okla. - Charlene Ann Tannahill was born on Aug. 21, 1935 in Pawnee, Okla., to Charley R. Tannahill and Dorothy I. Reaves Tannahill. She passed from this life on June 19, at Linwood Nursing Home in Cushing, Okla., having reached the age of 75 years, 9 months, and 28 days. She moved to Cushing, Okla. from Great Bend in October of 1978. She was a retired registered nurse.

The years of his youth spent crouched as a baseball catcher and playing football coupled with the subsequent years of chasing his kids around, coaching their sports teams and climbing multiple sets of stairs daily at work, had left him unable to stand up straight. After some badgering from his family, which included Barton Community College's Director of Nursing and Healthcare Education Programs Dr. Kathy Kottas, the time had come for him to bite the bullet and succumb to his bilateral knee replacement surgery on Dec. 13, 2013.

ELLINWOOD - The Ellinwood High School Forensics Team placed 6th at a tournament held at Southeast of Saline on Saturday, Feb. 22.
Lenora Marie Ochs, 97, died Feb. 25 at Great Bend Regional Hospital. Born July 21, 1916, in rural Otis, she was the daughter of Fred and Julia (Schlegel) Stieben. On Oct. 6, 1935 she married Clarence Everett Ochs in Otis. He died on May 7, 1994. A Great Bend resident since 1978, coming from Otis, she was a part-owner, bookkeeper and parts lady at Ochs, Inc., until retirement.
LARNED - Ellen Nadine Bittner, 81, died Feb. 23, 2014 at Great Bend Regional Hospital. She was born Oct. 22, 1932, at Alton, Missouri, the daughter of Claude and Esther Barton Strain. A resident of the Great Bend formerly of Larned, she was a retired nurses aide at Gleason Hospital in Larned. She was of the Christian faith.
