BURLINGTON - Kathryn Marie Buchanan Gant, 31, of Burlington, died June 10 from a tragic car accident. She was born Sept. 14, 1979, in Council Grove, to Joe and Rita (Murphy) Buchanan. Katie attended Council Grove Elementary, Middle and High School. She graduated from Ft. Hays State in 2002, with an associate's degree in radiology technology and a bachelor's degree in medical diagnostic imaging.
HOISINGTON - Velma Rose "Grammy" Graves, 92, died June 11 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born May 27, 1919, at Horace, she was the daughter of John and Olive (Huddleston) Moore. On April 23, 1939, she married James Lloyd Graves in Sharon Springs. He died on Sept. 14, 1975. A resident of Hoisington since 1942, coming from Tribune, she worked for Clara Barton Hospital as a nurse's aide.

The Fuller Brush Company is pleased to announce that Martin Brack has joined the company as Manufacturing/Design Engineer, effective June 1. Mr. Brack is originally from Albert. He completed high school at Otis-Bison. After completing a Bachelors degree in Biological and Agricultural Engineering from Kansas State University, Martin was employed as an Application Engineer in Valley, Neb., where his duties included design and development of tools, parts and systems used in irrigation. Martin will be providing much needed assistance and support to Fuller's engineering department.
Visitors to the annual summer festival in Lee's Summit, Mo., on June 3 and 4 were treated to a flash mob dance performance by more than 50 staff and members of the local Jazzercise fitness center. The flash mobs were to raise awareness for Alzheimer's Disease in a fun manner.
