Craig Wayne Barnett Sr.

HAYS - Craig Wayne Barnett Sr., 55, died April 24, 2012 at Hays Medical Center. Born Oct. 6, 1956 in Scott City, he was the son of Cecil Golden and Agness Lorine (Scott) Barnett. On April 4, 1981, he married Betty Elson in Oberlin. She died on Nov. 30, 2004. He later married Nicole Schneider. He attended Healy schools. He moved to Great Bend and worked in the Meat Packing Plant until moving to Gove in 1992 and driving a feed truck for Glenn Coberly Feed Yard. In 1997 he moved to Wakeeney and later moved to Hays. Renowned soloist Trent Green to perform at Kilby sculpture ceremony

Ellinwood native Trent Green's robust tenor voice has taken him all the way to Spoleto, Italy, where he performed with opera greats Luciano Pavarotti, Renée Fleming, Plácido Domingo, and composer Gian Carlo Menotti. Hay Fire

Cattle in pens at Mid-America Feeders mill around as smoke rises from approximately 120 round hay bales that caught fire Tuesday afternoon. The fire was reported about 1:18 p.m. and after battling the blaze for awhile, MAF and Great Bend Fire Department officials decided it was best to just let the fire burn itself out. Great Bend Fire Chief Mike Napolitano said this was the third time this month that hay ignited at the feedlot. In each case the cause was spontaneous combustion.
