LARNED - Kathleen Mary Spayd, 66, died July 11, at her home in Larned. Born July 11, 1945, in Detroit Mich., she was the daughter of George and Helen Watson Gierschke. A resident of Larned since 2000, she was employed at the Larned State Hospital. On July 31, 1965, she married Elbert Lee Spayd and later divorced.
JOPLIN, Mo. - Sheryl Louise Turnbow, 63, Joplin, Mo. passed away on Tuesday at the home of a friend.
WAKEENEY - Laverne "Bunny" Tomanek, 78, died July 12, at Via Christi-St. Francis in Wichita. Born March 9, 1933 in Collyer, he was the son of Fred Eugene Tomanek and Rose Katherine (Power) Tomanek. On Oct. 20, 1952 he married Darlene (Nemechek) Tomanek.
ALDEN - Margaret E. Lipp, 84, died July 11 at Sterling Presbyterian Manor. Born June 1, 1927 in Alden, she was the daughter of Harry E. and Rubye Muir Ward. She graduated from Alden High School in 1945 and received her bachelors degree in Education in 1949 from Sterling College. A lifetime resident of Alden, she was a retired teacher for the Quivira Heights School District in Holyrood. On Aug. 1, 1950 she married Chester Mervyn Lipp at the Alden United Methodist Church. He died on Jan. 14, 2002.
