Robert D. Dougherty, 81, died Feb. 18, 2013 at Great Bend Regional Hospital, Great Bend. He was born Aug. 22, 1931 at Casper, Wyo. the son of Brian and Dorthy (Dunlap) Dougherty. He married Linda Sanko April 21, 1965 at Great Bend. He was owner and operator of Cambria Corporation since 1967.

Neighbor to Neighbor Food Drive to benefit Barton County Food Bank

Dillon's, the Kansas Department of Agriculture, Harvesters and the Kansas Food Bank are teaming up for a state-wide food drive called Neighbor to Neighbor. The food drive will kicked off on Monday and run will through Ag Day on March 19th. The Sons of the American Legion will hold a hamburger and brat feed from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Monday, April 6, at the Argonne American Legion Post 180, 1011 Kansas Ave. in Great Bend. Hamburgers and brats will be available for $5 each for members and guests. ​Leona Winterlin 1931 - 2015

HAYS - Leona Winterlin, 83, formerly of Hays, died Thursday, April 2, 2015, at the Sterling House in Great Bend. She was born in 1931 in Shickley, Nebraska, the daughter of Dan and Elsie (Birkey) Roth. She married DeWayne Winterlin on Aug. 21, 1954, in Iowa City, Iowa. He died June 20, 2000. She attended Wheaton College and Moody Bible Institute. She was an LPN and worked as a nurse at the University of Iowa Hospital and later at nursing homes in Kansas.
