The Eagle Scout Court of Honor was bestowed upon Tyler John Koelsch on March 12 at the Eastridge Presbyterian Church in Lincoln, Neb. Tyler is the son of Rick Koelsch, formerly of Great Bend and the late Jane Koelsch. Grandparents are LeRoy and Jean Dringmann and June Koelsch, all of Great Bend. Tyler is a member of Boy Scouts of America Troop #2 Cornhusker Council. His scoutmaster is Scott Connors.

The Barton County Historical Museum and Village will conduct an Orientation Meeting at 1 p.m. on April 7 at the Village south of the river bridge on Highway 281. The meeting is for anyone in Barton County who seeks information about volunteer service at the museum. John Carmon Ellison of Allen, Texas, 57, passed away on May 30, 2013. He was born on Sept. 3, 1955, in Fort Stewart, Ga., the son of John and Dee Ellison. On Nov. 28, 1995, John married Phyllis Taylor in Great Bend. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. John was also very proud of his police work; he started the SWAT program in Great Bend. John loved barbecue and cooking out, but most of all, he loved his family. He had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh.
