​Seventh-Day Adventist school taking frozen berry orders

The Great Bend Seventh-day Adventist School is taking orders for frozen berries from the Bithell Farms in Oregon. These excellent quality berries are flash frozen and packed in 14 pound boxes and can be divided easily. Available are: blackberries, raspberries, boysenberries, blueberries, strawberries, pie cherries, dark sweet cherries, peaches, apricots, apples and rhubarb.

Ann T. Brown 1948 - 2013

ELLINWOOD - Ann T. Brown, 64, died Feb. 18 at Ellinwood District Hospital. Born May 24, 1948 in Duncan, Okla., she was the daughter of Howard Gardner and Gladys B. Baldwin Gardner. On June 10, 1967 she married Terrance W. Brown in Ellinwood. A resident of Ellinwood for 50 years and a seasonal resident of Sargents, Colo., she was a legal secretary, a property manager, office manager for North American Drilling and Exploration and an aerobics instructor for 25 years.

This Sunday, April 5, St. Mark Lutheran, 2101 Jackson, Great Bend, and St. Paul Lutheran, Galatia, will begin their spring/summer service schedule. St. Paul worship service will begin at 9 a.m., followed by Sunday School at 10 a.m. St. Mark will hold fellowship at 10 a.m., followed by worship service and Children's Church beginning at 11 a.m.

The Sons of the American Legion will hold a hamburger and brat feed from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Monday, April 6, at the Argonne American Legion Post 180, 1011 Kansas Ave. in Great Bend. Hamburgers and brats will be available for $5 each for members and guests. Proceeds will support the Sons of the American Legion's programs such as child welfare and the Kansas Soldiers' Home at Fort Dodge.

​Leona Winterlin 1931 - 2015

HAYS - Leona Winterlin, 83, formerly of Hays, died Thursday, April 2, 2015, at the Sterling House in Great Bend. She was born in 1931 in Shickley, Nebraska, the daughter of Dan and Elsie (Birkey) Roth. She married DeWayne Winterlin on Aug. 21, 1954, in Iowa City, Iowa. He died June 20, 2000. She attended Wheaton College and Moody Bible Institute. She was an LPN and worked as a nurse at the University of Iowa Hospital and later at nursing homes in Kansas.
