USD 428, Holy Family, Helping Hands and HeadStart Schools

The following meals will be served Sept. 30 through Oct. 4 The secondary schools also have available daily: Main dish second choices, chef's salad, combo lunches and choice of vegetables and dessert. The breakfast menu is offered only to students in USD 428. Menus are subject to change without notice. Milk served with all meals. All meals as offered meet USDA nutritional guidelines.

Persons interested in exploring foster parenthood are encouraged to register for a upcoming 10-week course provided free of charge by Saint Francis Community Services, starting Oct. 7, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 2101 Jackson Street, in Great Bend.

GBHS Homecoming chili supper

The Homecoming 2013 Chili Supper will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Oct. 4, with proceeds to the GBHS Band and Orchestra trip next spring, Tickets are $7 and includes chili, carrots, crackers, cinnamon roll. Carryout is available. Extra cinnamon rolls may be ordered before Sept. 30th. To reserve/order tickets call 620-793-1521, ext. 189. A limited amount of tickets will be available at the door.

Saint Francis employees awarded ‘Excellence in Supervision’

Two Saint Francis Community Services employees were recently honored for their "excellent" leadership while working for the protection of children. The Kansas Department for Children and Families (DCF) and the Children's Alliance of Kansas presented Lesley Percival and Sarah Haldeman-Smith awards for "Excellence in Supervision" during the 2013 Excellence in Supervision Conference September 18 and 19 in Manhattan.
