Hoisington debaters medal

HOISINGTON - Hoisington High School Cardinal novice (first year) debaters did well recently at TMP-Marian in Hays. Brandy Bodine tied for first in the Best Speaker contest, receiving a medal. Robbie Willesden and Shae Bitter placed 6th, receiving medals, with a 3-2 record and 25 speaker points. They defeated teams from Colby, Ellinwood, and Hays. They lost to teams from Garden City and Hays.

Aaron Richard Cobb 1991 - 2012

OLATHE - Aaron Richard Cobb, 21, of Olathe, passed away Nov. 9, in Rolla Mo. due to injuries from a car accident. Born Jan. 27, 1991, he was the son of Richard and Stacy Cobb. He was a 2009 graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas. Aaron excelled in soccer and went on to play for the Kansas City Wizards/Sporting K.C. with Paul Rideout and was said to be an outstanding and hardworking player by his coaches. Moving time: Anyone got any Tylenol?

Last month we joined many other parents in our demographic by moving to a smaller home. This was our fourth move in 25 years. It was different from the others, however. You see, there are moves in the early years, when your kids are toddlers and all your possessions can fit in a pickup. Where the furniture is particle board and weighs 30 pounds. It's not really moving; it's a fun adventure when people pitch in and everyone grabs something like a Big Wheel. Laughter and joy are plentiful.

2012 Kay Regional Conference

Ten members of the Great Bend High School Kays and 16 Kayettes attended the Area 6 KAY Regional Conference on Nov. 1 at Halstead High School. The clubs returned with the highest state award possible. The Kays and Kayettes each received the Gold Award, recognizing their student leadership and service to their school, community, nation and world for the 2011-2012 school year.
