Dominican Sisters to host Mission Bazaar

The Dominican Sisters of Peace in Great Bend will host their Annual Mission Bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 10, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Motherhouse, 3600 Broadway Ave. The aroma and magic of this festive autumn, pre-holiday excursion includes beverage and coffee cake in the morning, soup and pie for lunch, hundreds of handcrafted and homemade items, two drawings for prizes, unique gift theme baskets and a silent auction.

Lambwatchers Ministries joins Gospel Sings lineup

Allen and Connie Parker from Fairbury, Neb., better known to southern gospel music fans as Lambwatchers Ministries, will join several other musical acts on stage today and/or Saturday, at the eighth annual Fall Gospel Sings Concerts. Music will be presented at no charge (freewill offerings will be accepted) from 7-9 tonight and 1-9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at Barton Community College's Fine Arts Auditorium.

ELLINWOOD - Edward H. Isern, 70, died Oct. 31 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. Born Sept. 28, 1942, in Great Bend, he was the son of Edward H. and Marian Moses Isern. He was a 1960 graduate of Ellinwood High School, attended the University of Kansas, was a graduate of Western New Mexico and studied at the University of Colorado. On April 20, 1991, he married Marianne Newcombe at Colorado Springs, Colo. A longtime resident of Ellinwood, formerly of Boulder, Colo., he was a retired Realtor.

Shelby Lee "Stoney" Stone Sr., 78, died Nov. 1 at Via Christi St. Francis Regional Medical Center, Wichita. He was born May 14, 1934, at Great Bend, the son of James Nelson and Helen Lee (DuBois) Stone. A lifetime Great Bend resident, he was a heavy equipment operator, employed as a crane operator for Chicago Bridge Company and American Bridge Company.
