Zeta Gamma Sorority had their first meeting of the year on Sept. 13 at St. Rose Atrium. The program, given by Ranjan Sachdev, gave the members an awareness of how to maintain a healthy mind and body. Plans were made for the Rush Party. Cake mixes were collected for Mrs. Prossers class at Lincoln elementary school. This is the 31st year for this project. Zeta Gamma's Rush party was held at The Rack. This was a couples party and well attended.

Mike and Myrla Keenan, of Great Bend, celebrated their 60th anniversary at the Woodlands Resort in The Woodlands, Texas. The couple was accompanied on their trip by Mryla's sister and brother-in-law, Delora and Marvin Baldwin of Great Bend, their three children and spouses, Evan and Nicki Keenan of Spring, Texas, Mark and Valerie Hardy of Sherman, Texas, and Kent and Roxanne Keenan of Great Bend. Many of their grandchildren were also in attendance.

He has five children, Ken and Mary Liebl of Wichita, Carol and Rich Steiner of Great Bend, Larry and Marcie Liebl, Kevin and Nancy Liebl and Todd and Carla Liebl, all of Claflin; 18 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
League of Women Voters of Great Bend will hold the monthly meeting at noon on Tuesday, at The Club at Stone Ridge. Lunch will be from the menu. The program will be provided by Barton County Clerk, Donna Zimmerman, about the new voting regulations that have come into effect.

A police pursuit that began shortly before 2:30 Sunday a.m. near 24th and Odell St. in Great Bend ended a short time later near 29th and Quivira Ave. Suspect Joshua Smith from Hays allegedly fled on foot but was later found and arrested, according to Lt. Williams Browne at the Great Bend Police Department.
At 11 p.m. Sunday, the Great Bend Police Department received multiple reports from people who heard shots fired in the area of Sixth and Odell St. Two men and a woman were contacted in the front yard of 521 Odell St., and a case was taken. No one was arrested.
