NEWTON - Thelma M. Hurst, 80, died October 30, 2011 at Newton Medical Center.
LARNED - Thelma Wandalee "Wanda" Nelson, 81, a loving wife, mother and grandmother, was called from this earth on Oct. 29, 2011 due to congestive heart failure.
ELLINWOOD - Ruby L. North, 82, died October, 30, 2011 at Great Bend Regional Hospital.
GREAT BEND - LaVina Grace Juergensen, 88, died October. 31, 2011 at her loving daughter's home in Great Bend.
First the Barton Community College Trustees went paperless with laptop computers, and now they are switching to iPads for board communications. IPad orientation and training is on the agenda for this month's board study session, set for 4 p.m. Thursday in the Seminar Room, F-30 of the Fine Arts Building.
Two women were injured when a car collided with a pickup at 10:05 a.m. Monday at K-96 and Broadway. According to Great Bend Police Sgt. Gary Davis, a Cadillac driven by Lynn Officer was northbound on K-96 and struck the Ford pickup driven by Charles Bellinger, who was driving east on Broadway.
Great Bend Police officer Brian Dougherty will provide an update on street drugs in the next Great Bend Recreation Commission Stop 'N Learn. The free one-hour program will be presented at noon Wednesday at the Great Bend Activity Center, 2715 18th St., and again at 1 p.m. Friday at the Senior Center, 2005 Kansas Ave.
Heartland Cancer Center's Touched by Cancer Group will hold a sharing meeting at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, and a Thanksgiving sharing meeting at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, at the center, 204 Cleveland St. Group meetings and activities are open to individuals currently fighting the disease, cancer survivors, or families and friends of those involved in all phases of the fight with cancer.
