With the spring season upon us, I thought it would be appropriate to remind everyone that I will start sending out letters concerning lawn and accumulation of trash issues. The letters serve as reminders as to the City of Ellinwood's ordinances concerning this issues and I hope, if you should happen to receive a letter, you take it as a reminder to perform a spring clean up and get your property in shape for the summer. Let's keep our city clean-a great place to raise our children and a great place to live.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) is making available $332 million in financial and technical assistance through the Agricultural Conservation Easement Program (ACEP). The Great Bend Recreation Commission board will act on insurance renewals when it meets at 4 p.m. Monday, April 13, at the Carl Soden Recreation Center, 1214 Stone St. "Participation awards" are also on the agenda as an action item, and there will be information about the upcoming Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) Championship Tournament.
