Nels Lindberg has announced his candidacy for City Council for the First Ward of Great Bend. Nels and his wife, Karen, have lived in Great Bend since 2001, outside of a two year stint in Dodge City. Upon returning to Great Bend, in 2005, he purchased Animal Medical Center. RSVP News

I would like to personally thank the Barton County Commission for their invaluable support of the RSVP Medical Transportation Program. This program provides transportation to necessary medical appointments both within Barton County and out of our area for any Barton County resident with no other way to go. The transportation is provided by volunteers who use personal vehicles to provide this important service; RSVP reimburses the volunteers for the fuel used to provide the trip. Volunteers have transported passengers to Wichita, Hutchinson, Salina, Hays, Dodge City, and Garden City; in fact, any location in Kansas is considered if a volunteer ...

Blazers place second

The Barton Blazers took second place in the Shawnee Mission/Overland Park Premiere basketball tournament. The Blazers defeated the Reno County Elite, Beastmode, Bobcats, and CNBA. They lost in the championship game to Missouri Flight. The Blazers will be playing at home this coming weekend in the Great Bend MAYB tourney. Players include, Brock Skelton, Evan Campbell, Nick Wondra, Chance Sanger, Ray Kuhlman, Connor Griffith, Sam Ryan, and JJ Heredia.
