Johnson’s career high leads KU over A&M

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Elijah Johnson scored a career-high 26 points, and No. 3 Kansas began pursuit of its third straight Big 12 tournament title with an 83-66 win over Texas A&M in the quarterfinals Thursday.

Chili Challenge

Dave Collier, a chili-making competitor, talks with a participant in the recent Bikers of Central Kansas Chili Challenge. BOCK raised $870 for Golden Belt Home Health & Hospice during the event. Gene and A.J. Budig won first place, Kansas Sidewinders MC took second and Brad Brack of BOCK placed third. The American Legion Auxiliary won the traveling trophy for its presentation and Dan (Rooster) Kathrens won the quilt. Golden Belt Home Health & Hospice is part of the St. Rose Ambulatory & Surgery Center family.

On Tuesday, March 13 at 7 p.m. in the new gym at Ellinwood High School, Dr. Ted K. Kessinger will be presenting an athletic scholarship seminar. Dr. Kessinger and two guest speakers will cover topics such as recruitment and the college selection process. During his tenure as head football coach at Bethany College, Dr. Kessinger compiled a record of 219-57-1 in 28 seasons. He coached 400 All-KCAC performers, 49 NAIA scholar athletes, and 43 NAIA All-Americans. His teams finished in the NAIA Top 25 twenty times and made 13 NAIA playoff appearances.
