Golden Belt Humane Society will conduct its annual Pet Photos for Christmas fundraiser, sponsored by Riggs Studio, Great Bend. Time and dates for pet portraits are 9:30 a.m. to noon and 1-4 p.m. on Dec. 1, and 1-4 p.m. on Dec. 2. Photos will be taken at the studio. Packages include two 5x7 and four wallet-sized photos for $15. Appointments are needed and can be made by calling the Humane Society, 620-792-2715.
The Barton Community College campus and Center for Adult Education, 1025 Main, Great Bend, will be closed for Thanksgiving break Wednesday, Nov. 21, through Friday, Nov. 23. The college will resume its regular schedule on Monday, Nov. 26.

ELLINWOOD - Elinor May Bryant Hiss, 76, died Nov. 14 at Woodhaven Care Center in Ellinwood. Born March 24, 1936, at Great Bend, she was the daughter of Harry and Clara Koch Bryant. In 1954 she graduated from Ellinwood High School. On Aug. 26, 1956, she married Frederick (Lawrence) Hiss at Ellinwood. He died on July 25, 2011.
