Jack Arnold DeWerff 1924 - 2015

MESA, Ariz. - Jack Arnold DeWerff, 90, died Sept. 17, 2015, at his home in Mesa, Ariz. Born Nov. 16, 1924, in Ellinwood, he was the son of Hattie and John DeWerff. He was a lifelong resident of Ellinwood, before moving to Mesa, Ariz. eight years ago. On April 8, 1955, he married Loretta Tedford in Minneola. He was a farmer, rancher, and a working cowboy all of his life and also worked for the Kansas Animal Health Department for 20 years, serving livestock producers in 30 counties in southwest Kansas. SALINA - Bruce Wayne Arnold, 62, passed away Sept. 19, 2015, at Salina Regional Health Center. Born on Jan. 27, 1953, in Wichita, he was the son of the late Shirley Gene (Arnold) Long. He was the husband of Claudia R. (Helm) Arnold. He worked as an over the road truck driver for many years.

Donna Mae Rolo 1934 - 2015

RANSOM - Donna Mae Rolo, 80, passed away on Sept. 21, 2015, at her home in Ransom. Born on Oct. 12, 1934, in Fairmont, Neb. she was the daughter of Ruben and Rose (Ackerman) Sell. On Nov. 17, 1955, she married Wilbur "Willie" Rolo in Sutton, Neb. He preceded her in death on Feb. 22, 1975. The Larned Lady Indian golf team captured first place at the Russell golf tournament Monday. Haley Skelton earned the first place medal with a 45 followed by teammates Dorothy Keenan, runner-up; and third-place finisher Emma Ayre. Larned shot 195 to finish seven strokes ahead of Hoisington.

Police chase in Ellinwood ends with shots fired

On Tuesday at about 9:46 p.m. Barton County Sheriff deputies were dispatched to the area of NE 10 Road and NE 120 Ave. A vehicle was reported to be abandoned in the roadway. The vehicle was located and impounded by deputies. The owner of the vehicle was reported to be Kenneth Lamb.
